“For there is nothing either good or bad, but BELIEVING makes it so.” – Shakespeare
Kati Wells utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the treatment of a variety of issues and conditions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is the form of psychotherapy directed at present time issues and based on the idea that the way an individual thinks and feels affects the way they behave. Kati has advanced, specialized training in CBT with over 40 hours of post graduate intensive studies. She has also participated in a rigorous supervision program through the Beck Institute and is currently working toward certification through the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Research shows that this form of treatment is one of the most effective for anxiety, depression, life adjustment and emotional distress due to medical conditions. These are Kati’s primary areas of specialty. Kati believes in the importance of collaboration in identifying goals and that work is done outside of session to promote change. Kati has a Master’s of Science Degree in Marriage and Family and Community Counseling; and offers a comfortable, inviting office environment for people to feel safe in.
Kati finds deep meaning in being apart of her community and volunteering her time for the better good and meeting like minded people. Kati has many unique talents, one example is her knack for impersonations (especially of Adele, and we might add that she can hit that vocal… we know she will refuse this claim). Kati is such an inspiring human because she is not only a student, a provider and a teacher of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but she does her best to live it, seek it and be it. She is not perfect in this and works to not make perfection the aim (that is a daily adjustment). Kati does not ask her patients to do anything she would not do, here is how we know this…
Kati has been putting herself in situations that are very vulnerable for her in the last year; Kati has been learning to road bike, mountain bike, run, swim and compete in road races, duathlons, triathlons and other outdoor challenges that she has never done in her life! These things have been possible for her because of what she knows now about the brain and how it uses experiences to build evidence to create beliefs about one’s self and about the world. She understands now that life and self-love must be mindfully cultivated. Kati Wells is a wonderful human and exceptional therapist.
