Art Therapy Techniques

Art is from within…within our souls, our spirit, our minds and our hearts. Art can touch us when everyone and everything seems light years away. Art is the expression of the human condition.

Art therapy techniques are used to heal and awaken the parts of you that have been silenced or discarded. We utilize these techniques within the sessions with the belief that these creative processes of art-making improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of us all, no matter our age! You cannot censor your subconscious through your art the way your mind allows you to verbally or non-verbally.

It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps us to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness and achieve insight. Art therapy techniques integrate the fields of human development, visual art (drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms) and the creative process with models of counseling and psychotherapy.
